Northern Ireland Seaweed Identification Course
Please note: This is taking place in Crawfordsburn Country Park and Visitor Centre
This training course will equip you with the skills to collect, identify, and understand the fascinating species of seaweed found in the Intertidal and Subtidal zones of Northern Ireland.
Some experience of biological recording or using a microscope is recommended for this course.
What you’ll do as part of this course:
- Collect samples of seaweeds from the nearby beach
- Learn how to identify local macroalgal species using a microscope
- Learn how citizen science contributes to seaweed research and harvesting
Important information
- Please bring a packed lunch to the event.
- We will be venturing out onto the beach as part of this course. Appropriate footwear (walking boots/wellies) is essential, along with weather appropriate clothing.
- Suitable for ages 18+
