Wildlife Walk: Summer

As the summer days stretch long into the evening, you can hear the hum of life all around us as butterflies float past and bees (and their copycats) buzz.

Discover our local summer species and how to identify them in this slow-paced walk around the grounds of the Ulster Folk Museum. A great way to get outdoors over the summer holidays on a fun family day out.

You’ll be joined by experts from the Centre for Environmental Data and Recording (CEDaR) who will teach you the skills to record these species. This vital work plays an important role in tackling the biodiversity crisis and understanding the impacts of climate change. It also supports the tracking of species trends and helps locate endangered species.

This Wildlife Walk will leave you with new knowledge of your local wildlife, a guide to biological recording booklet, a kids wildlife spotters guide and a branded magnifying glass card to help you continue your journey in species spotting and biological recording!

Important Information

  • Your ticket includes general admission to the Ulster Folk Museum on the day – please come before or stay after to enjoy the museum
  • This is a slow-paced walking event that will take place rain or shine. Suitable for everyone, from young to old, no experience needed
