An Introduction to Drawn Thread Work Embroidery

Ready to take your embroidery to the next level? Come along to this workshop where you can learn some basic Drawn Thread Work stitches. 

Drawn Thread Work is a traditional technique of whitework embroidery on linen, resulting in decorative bands of open work embroidery. In this one-day workshop, you'll learn some of these basic stitches and have the chance to study original pieces from our own collection of textiles. This workshop is suitable for beginners with some basic stitching experience. 

Please note, this workshop will take place in Cultra Manor which is situated in the grounds of Ulster Folk Museum. 

What to Know

  • Suitable for beginners or those with some basic stitching experience.
  • Tea and coffee provided.
  • Please bring a packed lunch or plan to visit the museum Tea Room.
  • Taking place in the Training Room in Cultra Manor – arrival information and directions to be sent in advance.
  • Kit, with materials and patterns included.
  • Workshop for 18+
