Behind the Scenes: Folk Museum Replica Costume Work Room
Explore the hidden world of our costumes that our visitor guides wear and discover why they are such an important part of the Folk Museum. You’ll see where our costumes are made, repaired and created, along with a wide range of garments linked to our historic exhibit buildings. Learn why they are worn in different locations across the museum; from the blacksmiths in the forge to the stitchers in the dressmaker's house. You’ll also get to see some of the original items that costumes are based on.
What to Know:
- Please note this event takes place in the replica costume rooms and not the museum collection stores.
- Please note this event is likely to last 1 – 1.5 hours
- Meeting point is in front of the museum shop

Ticket purchases
We ask for an optional 10% donation towards our charitable work when you buy your ticket.
You can make your donation go further by ticking the Gift Aid box when completing your purchase. National museums NI will be able to claim an extra 25% of the value of your ticket from HM Revenue and Customs at no extra cost to you.
Membership purchases
At no extra cost to you, saying 'yes' to Gift Aid means that we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 of your membership price from HM Revenue and Customs
